Heavyweight fighters Mark Hunt and Frank Mir are set to headline UFC Fight Night 84 in Brisbane in a five-round bout.
The event, which is scheduled to be held on March 19, will be the UFC’s first trip back to Australia since UFC 193 was held in Melbourne, during which Holly Holm stunned the UFC community by knocking out Ronda Rousey and subsequently became the new women’s bantamweight champion.
Hunt will have the upper hand heading into the fight as he scored a brilliant first-round knockout win over Antonio Silva at UFC 193 on November 15.
Mir on the other hand had his two-fight winning streak snapped by Andrei Arlovski in his most recent bout as he was beaten via unanimous decision at UFC 191 on September 5.
Should Hunt or Mir claim an early victory, it is likely to increase their chances of a shot at the heavyweight title.
