Preview: One FC Battle of Lions

France World Cup stars get championship rings

The upcoming Battle of Lions event promises to be among the most exciting hosted by One FC with a card full of stars set to fight at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang.

The headline fight of the evening is the world title bout between middleweights Leandro Ataides of Brazil and Kazakhstan’s Igor Svirid. Ataides is the favourite for the belt, but Svirid with his 9-1-0 record will either engineer an upset or he will make him work for it.

Other highlights include Australian Martin Nguyen making his long-awaited One FC debut following his year-long absence from the sport. The featherweight will be facing off with Phillipines boxer Rocky Batol Batol.

The card will feature a number of welterweight and middleweight fights, as the MMA promotion gets a chance to show off the strides they have made in expanding those divisions.

Another highlight will be the fight between Brazilian MMA veteran Luis Santos and Azerbaijan fighter Bakhtiyar Abbasov. The home crowd will have two local favourites in the ring, female star Kirstie Gannaway will be making her professional MMA debut along with featherweight Amir Khan.

The Battle of Lions will be the first event since One FC reached an historic deal with Facebook, and the night will include a segment featuring social media data by Facebook integrated with ONE FC’s coverage. The segment will be hosted by news presenter and actress Natalia Tang Ling.

Following the announcement earlier this week One FC CEO Victor Cui said, "Facebook is clearly the leading social media platform in the world today and our collaboration with them shows our clear commitment to work with the best of the best brands globally.

"With more than 99% of our fans around the world already following us and interacting with us through Facebook, the decision to integrate social media data on our live global broadcast is a natural step forward as we forge ahead as the largest sports media property in the history of Asia."

The event can be streamed live on pay-per-view here: http://www.onefc.com/livestream.html
