According to his trainer Filipino fighter Honorio Banario is ready for his bout against Herbert Burns at ONE FC: Warrior's Way on 5 December.
Team Lakay head trainer Mark Sangiao is confident Banario can end his three match losing streak when he takes on the undefeated Brazilian at the Mall of Asia Arena despite Banario's last win coming in February 2013.
Since he won his match up against Eric Kelly, Banario was defeated by Jadamba Narantungalag and then twice knocked out by Koji Oishi.
Sangiao told Rappler: "We decided to get this fight for Honorio because a win over Herbert Burns could bring him back into his rightful place in the rankings.
He added: "It's a close fight between Honorio and Jadamba. But we believe that Honorio won against Jadamba. We want that rematch."
Sangiao talked about the Pinoy fighter's strategy against Burns, a first-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
He said: "We are going against a world-class Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and we know where Herbert Burns wants to have the fight. Honorio is more confident right now as a fighter. He is no longer looking at his two knockout losses to Koji Oishi or his close decision loss to Jadamba. He is focused on getting the win over Herbert Burns."
Burns will be looking to extend Banario's losing streak in order earn a title bout against One FC Featherweight champion Narantungalag in 2015.
Two other fighters from Team Lakay will be in action on Friday. They are wushu star Eduard Folayang against Russian fighter Timofey Nastyukhin and Kevin Belingon against Koetsu Okazaki.
