How Canelo is staying ice cool for GGG clash

It would be easy for Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez to be feeling hot under the collar ahead of his highly anticipated clash against Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin this weekend.

Arguably the two best pound-for-pound fighters in the world meet in Las Vegas on Saturday with the WBA, WBC, IBF and middleweight world titles at stake.

But Canelo is keeping cool by undergoing cryotherapy treatment in temperatures of minus 140 degrees.

The 27-year-old posted pictures on Instagram showing him entering the ice chamber and said: “Not your typical morning bubble bath”.

The icy temperatures of cryotherapy can help to burn calories and also boosts recovery, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo a firm fan.

Mexican challenger Canelo understandably feels he needs all the help he can get, with Golovkin undefeated in his 37 professional fights – 33 of which have come by knockout.
