On May 2 in Las Vegas, Mayweather won a unanimous twelve round decision. After the fight Pacquiao told reporters that in late April he had injured his shoulder and hurt it further in the fourth round of the fight, which had a lot to do with how he was able to perform on fight night.
Maywweather was upset by what the Filipino told reporters and made comments in a Showtime televised interview where he labelled the Filipino a "sore loser" and a "coward".
Pacquiao has since had surgery to his shoulder, a torn rotator cuff, and is expected to be out of action for 9-12 months.
In a chat with Inquirer.ph, Pacquiao responded to the American’s comments and feels that he was treated unfairly by Maywether, who wanted to control everything related to the fight.
"I'm not a sore loser. I just wanna tell the truth so the people will know," Pacquiao told Inquirer.ph.
"I fought in an uneven playing field where my opponent was in control of everything, inside and outside the ring.
"He's an astute fighter who doesn't have the so-called sense of fair play. I respect the decision of the judges and I accept my defeat.
"Right now, my focus is to fully recover from my right shoulder injury and on my job as a lawmaker," he added.
