Thai boxer Knockout CP Freshmart successfully defended his WBA 105 lbs title on Wednesday with a fifth-round stoppage of Japan’s Go Odaira.
After a cagey start in the opening round, Knockout – whose real name is Thammanoon Niyomtrong – started to impose himself in the second, landing a few solid blows to the body and head.
There was more of the same in the third, as it became clear that Odaira was not having much impact with his punches.
After backing his opponent up against the ropes in the fourth, the champion landed several powerful body blows, sending his opponent to the canvas.
Odaira got up, but it was clear he was in trouble. He was saved by the bell as Knockout went in for the kill, but it only delayed the inevitable.
The champion intensified his attack in the fifth, and connected with a powerful left uppercut and right cross combination that put the Japanese fighter down for a second time.
This time he did not get up, and Knockout was able to celebrate another victory and successful title defence that took his record to 15-0.
