WBO world middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders has postponed his first title defence after suffering an injury during sparring.
Saunders won the championship last December, but is yet to defend the belt due to injury and contractual issues.
The 27-year-old had been due to face Russian Artur Akayov at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena on October 22, but after suffering a muscle injury in training, the fight will now take place on November 26.
Promoter Frank Warren said: “We have no choice but to postpone the card to a month later so everyone is given time to recover.
“I apologise to the fans for any inconvenience this may cause.
“It is extremely frustrating as the event is already essentially sold out and we were all geared up for a cracking night of boxing in Cardiff.”
