Errol Spence Jr is pressurising IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook to decide on his next move, as the unbeaten American vies to land the title.
Spence has recorded 18 knock-outs from his 21 professional victories and the 26-year-old now wants to challenge Brook, who suffered defeat to Gennady Golovkin last month.
Brook has had successful surgery on the fractured eye socket sustained in that fight, but there has been speculation that he is considering vacating his title so he can fight fellow Brit Amir Khan.
But Spence is eager to challenge for the IBF title early in the New Year, either against Brook or another leading contender if it becomes vacant.
”I’m just waiting it out and waiting to hear from Kell Brook’s team if they are going into negotiations or vacate,” Spence told Fighthype.com.
“I’ve been hearing him doing a lot of interviews and he’s been mentioning guys like Amir Khan and Canelo [Alvarez] and guys in the higher weights, so hopefully he vacates sooner or later so I can get my thing going and fight for the title and unify the titles with the other champions in the division.”
