The trainer of undefeated fighter Errol Spence Jr, Derrick James believes Kell Brook exposed the weaknesses of middleweight king Gennady Golovkin and went on to claim his boxer would stop both headliners.
Golovkin may have beaten Brook in five rounds but he failed to impress James with his performance at the O2.
“I had never seen Brook fight much before, really,” James said in an interview with The Bible of Boxing. “I said he would be too fast. He exposed Triple-G, I believe. Errol would knock both of them out.
"He spars with heavyweights and cruiserweights every day and these guys don’t have a lot of great skills. Their reaction time is too slow. You can see what Brook is thinking.
"I have to talk to [Errol] about it and I believe he will beat Golovkin with skill, power and speed but it’s up to him to actually take the fight because he knows himself so I will let him make his own calls.”
Spence is the number one contender for Brook's IBF welterweight title but there is some speculation that the fight may not happen with a big question mark hanging over Brook's weight after he packed on the pounds to face the middleweight Golovkin. The American may prefer to emulate Brook and get up into the middleweight division to challenge GGG.
The Southpaw's last fight was against Leonard Bundu on August 21 in New York and his next fight should be for the IBF welterweight title although at this stage it is unclear if he will take on Brook or if the title will be vacated.
The man they call 'The Truth' has an impressive track record – he is undefeated and has won 18 of his 21 fights by knockout, with his last three bouts being brought to a halt before the end of the sixth round.
