Brook: I’m getting energy from wife and kids

Kell Brook faces Gennady Golovkin on Saturday at The O2 and the Briton has revealed that spending time at home in the build-up to the fight has given him extra strength.

Brook will be up against the current holder of the  WBA, WBC, IBF and IBO middleweight titles. While not totally unheard of, it is rare that a fighter prepares for a bout of this magnitude from home in the company of their family.

However, Brook believes he has benefited greatly from training in this kind of environment.

"Normally coming into fight week I can't be around kids because when they start screaming I have to just run out of the room," he said.

"I've got a lot more patience now.

"I'm relaxed coming into fight week because I know I've done the hard work, I'm fuelled up and I just can't wait. I'm counting the days down."

Brook also feels that the influence and presence of his family has made Dominic Ingle's job of training him far less problematic.

"It's the easiest he's had it training me," Brook continued.

"It's been a doddle to train me and he's left me with my family because I've been getting that extra energy from my kids and from Lindsey.

"He hasn't got to watch everything I do. It's been a joy to be here through this training camp."

Both fighters have unbeaten records heading into this bout. The vast majority of their respective victories have come via knockout. Fireworks are to be expected come Saturday.
