Mayweather slammed for Berto mismatch

Floyd Mayweather Jr has picked Andre Berto as his opponent for his final fight before retirement when he will look to match late heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano's 49-0 record – and he's been widely panned for doing so.

Mayweather has long been accused of avoiding real contenders who could end his unbeaten record and instead easing his way through fights against mediocre opponents. Following the announcement that he will fight Berto in September, that point of view has only been enhanced.

First let's look how the two fighters shape up:

ESPN pundit Dan Rafael was so surprised by Mayweather's decision that he thought it was a joke…

And Rafael wasn't alone in thinking the match-up is laughable, with fans taking to Twitter to express their disappointment…

The general feeling is that the fight is going to be a bit of a snooze…

And there are predictions as to who Mayweather may fight next…

At least boxing fans can all get along…
