Noah played in only seven games for the Knicks last season and was released in October.
After a disastrous stay with the Knicks, Joakim Noah might have a chance to revive his NBA career.
The Grizzlies have had “extensive discussions” with the veteran big man, the New York Times reported Monday. Noah has been a free agent since the Knicks released him just before the season opener.
Noah, 33, played only 53 games for New York over the last two seasons after signing a four-year, $72 million contract in July 2016. Mixed in among time on the sideline after surgery on his knee and rotator cuff were a 20-game drug suspension and a dispute with then-coach Jeff Hornacek last January that prompted Noah to leave the team. He last appeared in a game Jan. 23.
While Noah has a lengthy injury history and undoubtedly will need some time to knock off rust, he told the Chicago Sun-Times last month he was staying “ready and focused” in case another opportunity came along.
