NBA Wrap: Heat too much for Chicago

After a slow first quarter, the Miami Heat got going to beat the Chicago Bulls 100-93 at United Center in Chicago on Sunday.

When Miami got going, after scoring seven points in the first quarter, they scored 38 in the second to lead 45-42.

Goran Dragic scored 24 points, Wayne Ellington added 19, James Johnson had 15 points and Hassan Whiteside had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

For Chicago, Jerian Grant nailed 24 points, Denzel Valentine had 14 points and career highs of 13 rebounds and seven assists.

In Minnesota, the Timberwolves beat the Phoenix Suns 119-108 with Karl-Anthony Towns scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds.

Jimmy Butler had 25 points for Minnesota while, for Phoenix, Mike James scored a career-high 26 points.

At the FedExForum in Memphis, the Brooklyn Nets defeated the Grizzlies 98-88 with DeMarre Carroll nailing a season-high 24 points, Trevor Booker added 16 points and 11 rebounds, to snap a three-game losing streak.

For the Nets, Joe Harris added a further 13 points and for Memphis, Marc Gasol and Tyreke Evans scored 18 points.

The result mean’s that the Grizzlies have lost eight straight games.
