Lakers’ LeBron James to play Sunday against Knicks

LeBron James is set to make his Madison Square Garden debut as a Laker.

The Los Angeles star will suit up when the team travels to New York to face the Knicks, Lakers coach Luke Walton said Sunday.

James was rested during the Lakers’ Friday night lost to the Pistons, which puts the team’s record at 31-38 and 11th in the Western Conference. It’s not something Knicks fans thought would happen months ago, when it was announced James and the Lakers would be playing in New York.

Given the Knicks’ record (13-56), it will be just another NBA game, since neither team will be heading to the playoffs this season.
