Irving finished with 23 points, while LeBron James hit 32 points and made 17 assists. James had earlier taken the game into overtime with a buzzer-beating three-pointer of his own before fouling out.
Kevin Love added 39 points for the Cavs as they ended the Wizard's 17-game home streak.
Bradley Beal hit 41 points and made eight assists for Washington.
In Minneapolis, the Heat recorded an 11th win in a row as they held off a Minnesota comeback to win 115-113.
Goran Dragic netted seven three-pointers for a career-high 33 points while Hassan Whiteside added 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Karl-Anthony Towns scored 35 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Timberwolves as they lost a fourth straight game.
Andrew Wiggins (27) missed two chances to win the game in the final few seconds.
Paul George scored 21 points and Jeff Teague added 17 as Indiana rallied to beat Oklahoma City 93-90.
The win was Indiana's seventh-straight, its longest streak in almost two years.
Russell Westbrook top scored for Oklahoma City with 27 points, a season-high 18 rebounds and nine assists, just missing out on a 26th triple-double for the season.
Blake Griffin's triple-double was in vain as Toronto triumphed over the Clippers 118-109.

In the last match of the evening, the Sacramento Kings lost 107-112 against the Chicago Bulls thanks to top performances by Dwyane Wade with 31 points and Michael Carter-Williams added 21. The top scorer for Sacramento was Ty Lawson who came off the bench to score 22 points, four rebounds and seven assists.
