NBA Wrap: Heat down Brooklyn for eighth straight win

The Miami Heat extended their winning streak to eight games with a 104-96 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night.

Goran Dragic hit 20 points while Dion Waiters added 19 for the Heat, while the duo also shared 17 assists.

James Johnson hit 17, while Rodney McGruder (13) and Hassan Whiteside (12) also hit double figures for Miami.

The Dallas Mavericks beat a title contender for the second straight night after Harrison Barnes’ 24 points helped them to beat Cleveland 104-97.

Wesley Matthews scored 21, and rookie point guard Yogi Ferrell hit a career-high 19 for Dallas, while LeBron James (23) and Kyrie Irving (18) top-scored for the Cavs.

Robert Covington hit 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Philadelphia surprised Sacramento 122-119.

DeMarcus Cousins drained 46 points for the Kings as the 76ers won again without injured centre Joel Embiid.

Minnesota overcame the Magic 111-105 in overtime on the back of 27 points from Andrew Wiggins, and a career-high six 3-pointers from Ricky Rubio.

Karl-Anthony Towns scored 23 points and nabbed 12 rebounds while Rubio added 22 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Wiggins took the game into overtime when he netted a jumper with just 10 seconds to play as the Wolves won for the eighth time in 11 games.

Boston took their winning streak to four thanks to Isaiah Thomas’ 41 points as they defeated the Detroit Pistons 113-109.

Jae Crowder (21) and Al Horford (13) also hit double figures for Boston.

Andre Drummond lead for the Pistons with 28 points and 22 rebounds, who lost their third straight game.

Mike Conley scored 38 points, six rebounds and nine assists for the Memphis Grizzlies as they defeated the Phoenix Suns 115-96. The top performer for the Suns was Marquese Chriss with 20points, six rebounds and two assists.
