Nick Young sees no reason why the Los Angeles Lakers cannot feature in the playoffs this season despite their rocky start.
The Lakers are currently in 12th place on the Western Conference standings with a record of 13-26, but only the top eight sides from both conferences will qualify for the playoffs.
Despite this, Young is confident that if the Lakers start to turn their fortunes around in the second half of the regular season, then advancing to the playoffs might not be out of the question.
“I tell [my teammates] all the time, we’re not far out of the playoffs,” Young told Jared Zwerling of the NBA Players Association in a Q&A session. “We’re only [a few] games behind the eighth seed, so we can make some real showtime here. We’ve just got to stay focused.”
In the 32 games he has played thus far, Young is averaging 14.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.
