NBA Wrap: Butler stars as Bulls beat Lakers

Jimmy Butler stole the spotlight as the Chicago Bulls triumphed over the Los Angeles Lakers 118-110 on Sunday.

Butler scored 40 points on 14 of 23 shooting to go with seven rebounds, six assists and one steal as his side won their ninth game of the season.

Lou Williams scored a team-high 25 points for the Lakers.

Carmelo Anthony scored 31 points as the New York Knicks downed the Atlanta Hawks 104-94.

Anthony, who also grabbed seven rebounds, was well supported by Kristaps Porzingis as he recorded a double-double that consisted of 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Paul Millsap dropped 19 points for the Hawks.

The Portland Trail Blazers snapped a three-game losing streak by beating the Brooklyn Nets 129-109.

CJ McCollum guided the Trail Blazers to victory with 33 points, four rebounds and five assists.

Brook Lopez had 21 points for the Nets.

Jeff Teague’s 30-point game saw the Indiana Pacers defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder 115-111.

Teague also pulled down five rebounds, dished out nine assists and recorded six steals, while Thaddeus Young added 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Russell Westbrook registered another triple-double in his side’s loss, which saw him score 31 points, grab 11 rebounds and dish out 15 assists.

It was smooth sailing for the Denver Nuggets as they cruised to a 105-91 win over the Utah Jazz at the Pepsi Center.

Jamal Murray led the way with 18 points, while Jusuf Nurkic ended the game with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Gordon Hayward was the Jazz’s top-scorer with 25 points.

Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins combined for 42 points as the Sacramento Kings skirted past the Toronto Raptors 102-99.

Gay scored 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds, while Cousins concluded the game with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Kyle Lowry scored 25 points for the Raptors.
