Mavericks dismantle Lakers

The Dallas Mavericks beat the Los Angeles Lakers 109-97 on Tuesday night to give the latter their first home defeat of the season.

Harrison Barnes and Seth Curry scored 31 and 23 points respectively to lead an emphatic Mavericks display of speedy, attacking basketball.

JJ Barea was also a star on the night, contributing 18 points, seven rebounds and eight assists.

The victory was the Mavericks’ 11th in a row over the Lakers.

Furthermore, they have now put together back-to-back wins and Barnes believes their impressive recent form is a reflection of the strong team ethos they have going at the moment.

“This is two team efforts, just scrappy and grinding,” Barnes said.

“Everyone is getting in the mix offensively and defensively. It’s not always pretty basketball, but we’re getting it done, and that’s the most rewarding thing about it.”

Elsewhere on Tuesday night in the NBA, the Cleveland Cavaliers suffered a surprising 110-106 defeat to the Atlanta Hawks.

The Brooklyn Nets were too much for the Minnesota Timberwolves, winning 119-110.

The Memphis Grizzlies edged the Denver Nuggets 108-107.

The Portland Trail Blazers out shone the Phoenix Suns 124-121.

The Sacramento Kings trounced the New Orleans Pelicans 102-94.
