UAAP cancels Sunday games due to Typhoon ‘Karen’

To ensure the safety of its student-athletes and league fans, the UAAP has cancelled all of its matches on Sunday, including a pair of men’s basketball games at the FilOil Flying V Arena due to Typhoon “Karen.”

In an official statement from UAAP president Fr. Ermito De Sagon, O.P, of season host University of Santo Tomas and addressed to the UAAP Board, the league decided to suspend the games for the continuous rains being spawned by Typhoon “Karen” that has put Metro Manila on “Signal 2” category on Saturday.

The affected league games include the 12 noon showdown between defending champion Far Eastern U and University of the East plus the 4 p.m. face-off of Ateneo and Adamson in centerpiece men’s basketball.

The table tennis tourney, being played at the Blue Eagle gym in Katipunan, Quezon City, and the high school volleyball set at Adamson gym have also been suspended.

The league added that all the postponed matches will be rescheduled to a later date. – Jerome Lagunzad
