Just two days after his 46-point explosion, Meralco import Allen Durham’s incredible performance throughout the conference paid off.
Behind his eye-popping numbers of 29.4 points, 15.2 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.4 blocks, Durham romped on to clinch the Bobby Ray Parks Best Import award in the Governors’ Cup on Sunday before Game 2 of the Finals.
Nicknamed ‘The Hulk’, Durham edged co-finalist and Ginebra reinforcement Justin Brownlee for the best import plum, after collecting 1273 total points.
Leading the statistical race with 589, the Grace Bible College also topped the votes from media (445), players (89) and the Commissioner’s Office (150) to beat Brownlee who had 1028 points.
Returning for his second tour of duty in the PBA, the former Barako Bull import proved to be force to reckon in Meralco uniform after guiding the Bolts to their first-ever Finals appearance.
The 6-foot-5 hulking import helped Meralco past a tough Mahindra side, before overcoming title favorite TNT in the semifinals on their way to the Last Dance.
Durham also went to work in Game 1, powering the Bolts with his 46-point explosion, including seven straight to open the overtime period to claim their first win over the Gin Kings in the season. – By Jason Mercene
