TNT versatile forward Ranidel de Ocampo was left awestruck Saturday night when Meralco rookie Chris Newsome posterized him during the Bolts’ 119-113 Game 3 win in their semifinal series.
Already wowing the sizable Smart Araneta Coliseum crowd on his first vicious dunk against TNT import Mychal Ammons in the final canto, 6-foot-1 freshman went for another jam in the next sequence after soaring over the 6-foot-6 many-time Gilas veteran.
With the momentum shifting to the Bolts already after Newsome’s dunks, de Ocampo felt challenged as he himself flashed his old form, going for a one-handed slam dunk that left the crowd wanting for more.
Grabe yung dunk nya, Ang ganda,” said de Ocampo, who finished with 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists in a losing effort.
But more than a showdown of highlight reel against younger players, the 34-year old said he is more concerned on winning the series.
Eyeing to even the series after a stunning Game 3 loss, de Ocampo vows to give their all on Monday.
– Jason Mercene
