Already facing the specter of playing without coach Aldin Ayo due to a one-game suspension, powerhouse La Salle has another big void to fill as star wingman Jeron Teng is sidelined with bone spurs for a week, making him unavailable for the Green Archers’ anticipated showdown with archrival Ateneo on Sunday in the UAAP Season 79 men’s basketball tourney at the Mall of Asia Arena.
As posted by Archer Pride.com on its Facebook page and confirmed by UAAP TV analyst TJ Manotoc thru Teng’s mother, Susan, the 6-foot-2 wingman will be out for this week, forcing him to miss the first edition of the ‘Green vs. Blue’ rivalry this season and possibly La Salle’s opening match in the second round.

Teng’s absence should give the Archers another reason to be worried about as Ayo could also serve a one-game ban in their match with the Blue Eagles for being tossed out due to a pair of technical fouls in the course of La Salle’s 84-78 victory over University of the East last Wednesday.
The fifth-year forward also hinted about the injury on his Twitter account Friday night.

La Salle’s team management has reportedly made a last-ditch appeal and is still waiting for a response from UAAP basketball commissioner Rebo Saguisag.
As of posting time, FOX Sports has reached out but is still waiting for an official word from the Green Archers’ camp. — By Jerome Lagunzad
