ANTIPOLO– Calvin Abueva said Alaska’s emphatic 133-106 win over GlobalPort clearly showed the team’s sense of urgency in the Aces’ bid to make it to the PBA Governors Cup playoffs.
Import LaDontae Henton stood at the forefront of Alaska’s offensive, though Abueva contributed big numbers as well, tallying 21 points and eight rebounds.
“Bigay (todo) talaga kasi sa last three games namin, kailangan talaga namin manalo, crucial part ‘to kada laro namin,” said Abueva.
At 4-5, the Aces’ still haven’t secured a spot in the playoffs, which is why Abueva said they have to be in playoff mode in their last two games.
“Hindi pa namin masabi na playoffs (ang iniisip). Knockout game ‘to eh. Focus muna kami kung sino ang next kalaban namin,” added “The Beast”.
After a 1-4 start, the Aces have won two of their last three games to revive their playoff drive in the season-ending conference.
Alaska’s last two opponents include Phoenix (5-4) on Saturday and NLEX (4-5) in the last elimination round playdate on Sept. 16. – Jason Mercene
