RR Garcia not giving up despite Star’s free fall PBA Govs Cup campaign

Although not throwing the towel in their Governors’ Cup campaign just yet, third-year pro RR Garcia said the Star Hotshots have a lot of soul-searching to do as they try to stay alive for a playoff spot.

“Siguro madami pa kaming dapat ayusin. By next conference siguro makukuha na namin ito, babawi na talaga,” Garcia told FOX Sports, moments after Star’s morale-deflating 106-93 loss to Phoenix on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Star’s playoff chances now hang in the balance after tumbling down to 1-7, hogging the cellar along with idle Blackwater.

“Stay positive lang ako. Ganun naman talaga eh, basta kailangan huwag kaming maghiwa-hiwalay,”  stressed Garcia, who was acquired by the Hotshots during the conference from the Fuel Masters.

Looking up to his veteran teammates like James Yap and Marc Pingris, the Zamboanga pride is confident they won’t go down without a fight in their final three games.

“Leader pa rin sila sa team namin.  Hindi naman kasi rin sanay na natatalo yung mga yan,” he said.

“Galing silang Grand Slam kaya di aayaw iyan,” added the former Far Eastern University guard. – Jason Mercene
