Rain or Shine is expected to come out firing from the get-go when it clashes with Alaska on Saturday in the first meeting between the two Finals protagonists last conference.
The Elasto Painters (2-2) are coming off a 109-102 defeat at the hands of the Meralco Bolts in a game that saw them trail from start to finish.
But coach Yeng Guiao is confident that Rain or Shine can recover from that deflating defeat to Meralco and bounce back strong against an Alaska side that has lost back-to-back in the PBA Governors Cup.
In fact, playoff positioning is already in the mind of Guiao, heading into their 5:15 p.m. match.
“We’re still pretty confident of our chances (for a spot in the playoffs),” said Guiao, whose team celebrated the Asian Coating franchise’s second league title 3 months ago after beating Alaska in a six-game championship series.
The Aces will miss the services of forward Vic Manuel, who strained his right calf recently.
The good news is, energetic forward Calvin Abueva is set to return to action since battling from severe throat infection and fever last week, which forced the “Beast” to miss the All Star Game.
Alaska enters the game carrying a 1-3 record, having lost its last 2 games against the TNT Katropa (120-118) and Meralco (101-95). – Jason Mercene
