Kiefer Ravena earns respect in Air West pick-up game win over David Lee-led squad

Kiefer Ravena continues to get high quality training in the US after playing against the likes of NBA veterans David Lee and Dorell Wright in one of the Air West’s pick-up games in Los Angeles, California.

Ravena earned another invite after a good run last week according to Air West’s official Twitter account.

Air West hosts the best open gym in LA where the pros come to play by invitation only.

Ravena shared to FOX Sports his experience in the Air West, just a few days after playing in the highly regarded Drew League.

“It’s really different [here in the US]. ¬†Usually, it’s a lot of one-on-one [plays] that’s why they’re a bit surprised with my passes. ¬†But then again, I have to showcase my talent,” Ravena told FOX Sports in Filipino.

The former 2-time UAAP MVP said he’s just seizing every opportunity that comes his way while he’s in the US after beating the team led by Lee and Wright.

“I’m just pushing myself. And I don’t want to waste the opportunity given to me by Keion Kindred (@keyz05) and Nate Jones (@JonesIntheNba),” said Ravena referring to Kindred, a Drew League coach and trainer, and Jones of Goodwin Sports Management, which is handling the careers of a handful of NBA players led by Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard and Toronto Raptors’ DeMar DeRozan.

“I just want to improve and that’s what they’re giving me,” he added.

After the game, Ravena earned Air West’s respect.

Ravena was recently named to the new 24-man pool of Gilas, which is set to compete in the FIBA Asia Challenge Cup in Tehran, Iran this September. – By Alder Almo
