Tanduay Rhum dodged a game-winning three-point attempt from Jonathan Grey in the dying seconds to pull off an 88-86 win against top seed Racal to force a winner-take-all match in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup semifinals Wednesday night in Bacoor, Cavite.
The Rhum Masters led by as much as 68-45 midway through the third frame. But Tanduay saw its lead evaporate in the face of the Tile Masters’ furious rally behind Grey and Raphael Banal as the Rhum Masters saw themselves trailing, 82-81 entering the final 2 minutes.
Former National U Bulldog Gelo Alolino then spearheaded Tanduay’s 7-2 finishing kick to pull off the reversal against Racal.
Alolino went on to finish with 26 markers, along with 4 boards and 4 assists for the Rhum Masters.
Gilas pool member Kevin Ferrer came off the bench to contribute 13 points while Reden Celda chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
On the other hand, Grey paced Racal with 21 points, on top of 6 rebounds and 6 assist while Banal added 12. – Bryan Ulanday
