The Oklahoma City Thunder might have lost Kevin Durant this off-season but it appears as though their closing in on keeping Russell Westbrook. The Thunder are in serious negotiations with Westbrook’s agent on a renegotiation that could keep him in Oklahoma City through the 2018-19 season, The Vertical reported Wednesday.
According to the report, the proposed deal would be a three-year, $85 million maximum contract renegotiation agreement.
The Thunder failed to retain Kevin Durant earlier this summer, losing him to the Warriors. Many believed the team would also lose Westbrook, who has spent his entire eight-year career with the franchise.
But it appears the 27-year-old point guard is willing to stay in town and be the team’s No. 1 option for the foreseeable future.
