Alaska forward Calvin Abueva faces the possibility of getting penalized after elbowing Ginebra wingman Chris Ellis on the face during the two team’s collision on Sunday.
PBA media bureau chief Willy Marcial said league commissioner Chito Narvasa is now reviewing the incident.
The 6-foot-1 Abueva’s cheap shot was caught on television replay where the Alaska undersized forward and Ellis collided in a rebound sequence early in the 4th quarter.
Abueva, the Commissioner’s Cup Best Player escaped sanction from the referee. But Marcial insisted that Narvasa could penalize the former.
“Nire-review na ni com (Narvasa) yung play na yun,” Marcial told FOX Sports on Monday.
“Depende na iyan kay com kung maging flagrant foul 1 yun saka kung magkano ang magiging fine,” he added.
Abueva made his PBA Governors Cup debut on Sunday, contributing 12 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, one block, and a steal in 27 minutes, helping the Aces to a 109-100 overtime win against the Kings. – Richard Dy
