TNT Ka-Tropa drew another huge game from Jayson Castro while his back-up, rookie Kris Rosales had a breakout game as they dealt Meralco Bolts their first loss of the season-ending conference, 98-95, Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Castro pumped in 16 of his game-high 24 points in the second half while Rosales finished with a PBA career-high 13 to power Ka-Tropa to their second straight win.
But the win didn’t come easy though.
After Castro keyed a 12-2 run that saw Ka-Tropa pull away from a tight game, the Bolts came charging back and threatened to force an overtime.
TNT took the lead for good with that decisive run, 98-89, but Meralco refused to go down without a fight. Jared Dillinger though failed to cap off a furious Bolts’ fightback as he missed a potential game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer.
Ka-Tropa imports Michael Madanly and Mario Little added 14 apiece while top draft pick Mo Tautuaa came up with 8 points and 8 boards.
Meralco’s high-powered import Allen Durham was held down to his lowest output, this time, finishing only with 14 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the field.
