Francis Munsayac drilled in a go-ahead basket in the dying seconds as Emilio Aguinaldo College took a slim 59-58 lead. But the Generals’ celebration proved to be only short-lived as Teytey Teodoro punched through a cold-blooded jumper on Munsayac’s face to carry Jose Rizal University to a close 60-59 victory.
“Sobrang sayang. Sobrang nakakahinayang lang,” Munsayac told Fox Sports PH after their heartbreaking loss.
It marked the fourth loss of EAC Generals in five outings as they fell to a deep 1-4 hole.
But Munsayac refused to bow down even with yet another close encounter.
“Ginive namin ‘yung best namin sa game. Lumaban talaga kami kahit ano mangyari. Nag-result lang talaga sa loss.”
Truly enough, the wards of Coach Ariel Sison fought tooth-and-nail all game long as they were grinding it out against the Bombers, proof of which is the 22 lead changes and 6 deadlocks.
They even managed to climbed out of the 11-point hole and snatched a 59-58 lead off a Munsayac’s heroic shot with just 18 ticks remaining only to be sent hurting in the end by Teodoro’s game-winner.
Munsayac credited Teodoro for that tough shot.
“Kudos to Teytey. Sobrang ganda ng tinira nya. Kahit naka-challenge na’ko. Na-shoot nya pa rin. Para sa kanila lang talaga yung game,” he said.
“[Para] sa akin, hindi ako nalungkot kasi nag-challenge talaga ko. Hindi ko ni-let go yung tira. Hindi ko pinabayaan. Pagkatapos nga ng game. Sabi nila Coach ‘Cis, you did a good challenge,” Munsayac shared. – By John Bryan Ulanday
