Life goes on: LA Tenorio set to rejoin Ginebra after missing Gilas Final 12

Just 3 days removed from being cut from the Gilas Pilipinas final 12, LA Tenorio drew the strength and support from his Barangay Ginebra family after showing up in the Kings’ 127-114 win over Tropang TNT on Wednesday in their tuneup game at the CCF gym in Pasig.

Wearing a black Ginebra muscle shirt, Tenorio chatted with coach Tim Cone before the start of the game and keenly observed the Kings, who executed some new plays against the Tropa.

“Masaya naman ako na nakabalik na ako dito. At least nakita ko na pamilya ko after 3 weeks and then balik na din ako sa Ginebra,” Tenorio said after the game.

“Looking forward to practice ako dito sa Ginebra and seems, maganda ang tinatakbo.”

Additionally, the 31-year-old Ginebra sentinel said Cone might be opting to push for a faster pace come the PBA Governors Cup as the American coach tries to give rookie playmaker Scottie Thompson more time on the floor.

“The way I see things kanina sa game, medyo fast-paced ang laro namin kasi siguro wala din kaming malaki kaya medyo nag-adjust si coach Tim compared sa last conference in running the triangle,” he added.

Tenorio said he’ll be joining the team’s Thursday morning practice to try to familiarize himself with what he missed while he was practicing with Gilas.

But he intends to take a 4-day break starting Friday once he gets to figure out where to go with his family.

“Depende kung makakuha din kami ng bakasyunang pampamilya kasi pagod na ako bumiyahe dahil ilang beses din kami lumipat,” he said.

“Subukan namin drive lang kasi maulan din pero kapag wala, practice na din ako ng Saturday then pahinga ako ng Sunday to Tuesday.”

Tenorio, along with Alaska forward Calvin Abueva failed to make the Final 12 during the televised program on TV5 last Sunday.

The 1-time PBA Best Player was considered a shoo-in for the Gilas final 12, but coach Tab Baldwin in the end, opted to go for Ryan Reyes at the other guard, joining Jayson Castro and spitfire GlobalPort gunner Terrence Romeo at the backcourt. – By Richard Dy
