The Adamson Soaring Falcons, the Jose Rizal University-A Heavy Bombers, the Arellano University Chiefs and reigning Palaro champion San Beda continued to post resounding wins in the ongoing 22nd Fr. Martin Cup Summer Basketball Tournament at the St. Placid gym of the San Beda College-Manila campus in Mendiola.
The Soaring Falcons, led by Rob Manalang and Dawn Ochea, smothered the JRU-B Heavy Bombers, 92-66, to march to their fourth straight victory in Group A.
This put the San Marcelino-based dribblers within reach of a quarterfinals berth.
Paolo Pontejos struck with 29 points as the Heavy Bombers scored their second consecutive win at the expense of the San Beda Red Lions, 77-72.
The Heavy Bombers, who improved their record to 2-1 in Group B, earlier got 12 points from Pontejos when they prevailed over the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 61-60.
They Chiefs, behind Reyniel Viloria and Jiovani Jalalon with 14 points each, also put away JRU-B, 81-75, in a separate encounter to hike their slate to 2-1 in Group A.
In other games, Eunique Chan had 13 points for University of the East when the walloped Enderun, 52-35, in the women’s division.
In the junior side, John Lagumen hit 12 points for the San Beda-A Red Cubs, who smashed Hope in Hoops, 81-72.
It was the Red Cubs’ first triumph after carrying Calabarazon region (region IV-A to the 2016 Palarong Pambansa crown in the secondary boys division two weeks ago.
Albert Bordeos had 14 points for San Beda-B, which stopped Letran, 60-56.
