Tyler Wilkerson explosion carries San Miguel to top seed

Friday was just another day at the office for Tyler Wilkerson, who erupted for 36 points, as San Miguel beat Tropang TNT, 104-98, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. 

Wilkerson, the top-scoring import in the tournament so far, added 15 rebounds for the Beermen, who clinched the #1 seed and will face Star in the quarterfinals.

Slowly gaining back his form, June Mar Fajardo contributed 18 points and 7 boards even as Alex Cabagnot, Marcio Lassiter and Chris Ross added 10 markers apiece.

David Simon had 32 points and 16 rebounds for the Tropa, but the defending champions were unable to hold a fourth-quarter lead to fall to sixth place.

Tropang TNT, which drew 14 points from rookie Troy Rosario, will face Alaska in the best-of-3 quarterfinals. — By John Bryan Ulanday
