Golden State Warriors back-up center Festus Ezeli was the victim of an April Fools prank, which saw him made to think that he had been cut from the team.
Ezeli has been limited to just 40 games this season due to a knee injury he sustained during his side’s 120-90 win over the San Antonio Spurs on January 25. He underwent surgery on February 8, but there is no word on when he will make his comeback.
Due to his injury-stricken season, small forward Andre Iguodala masterminded an April Fools prank with the help of a Lyft driver to make the 26-year-old think that his time with the Warriors had come to an end just weeks before the playoffs.
The 6’11 center is in the midst of a career season as he has averaged a career-high 7.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. His field goal percentage of 55.7 is also a career-high.
