NBA Wrap: Curry has a birthday to remember

The Golden State Warriors made history on Stephen Curry’s 28th birthday on Monday as they beat the New Orleans Pelicans 125-107 to become the fastest team to win 60 games in NBA history.

Curry stole the show in his side’s win as he scored 27 points on 10 of 16 shooting, while also grabbing five rebounds and dishing out five assists.

Anthony Davis and Toney Douglas scored 22 points apiece for the Pelicans.

The Dallas Mavericks downed the Charlotte Hornets 107-96 to end their seven-game winning streak.

Chandler Parsons scored 24 points and pulled down nine rebounds, while Dirk Nowitzki had 23 points and 11 rebounds.

Kemba Walker was the Hornets’ top-scorer with 25 points.

An all-round performance saw the Miami Heat triumph over the Denver Nuggets 124-119.

Justise Winslow guided the Heat to victory with 20 points on eight of 13 shooting, while Hassan Whiteside finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Nuggets power forward Kenneth Faried recorded a double-double, which consisted of 24 points and 11 rebounds.

Over at the Air Canada Centre, the Chicago Bulls skirted past the Toronto Raptors 109-107.

Doug McDermott starred for the Bulls as he scored 29 points on nine of 11 shooting.

Kyle Lowry dropped 33 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Raptors.

The Washington Wizards snapped a five-game losing streak following a 124-81 rout of the Detroit Pistons.

Nene scored 20 points for the Wizards, while point guard John Wall had 15 points and 12 assists.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was the Pistons’ best player with 18 points.

A superb team performance by the Houston Rockets led to them crushing the Memphis Grizzlies 130-81.

Donatas Motiejunas dropped 20 points, while James Harden added 15 points, seven rebounds and eight assists.

Jarell Martin scored 17 points for the injury-ravaged Grizzlies.

Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook recorded a triple-double in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 128-94 win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Westbrook scored 17 points on seven of 11 shooting, pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out 16 assists.

Damian Lillard was the Trail Blazers’ top-scorer with 21 points.

Mirza Teletovic sunk a three-pointer with 1.2 seconds left to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 107-104 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Teletovic finished with 21 points, but P.J. Tucker was the Suns’ highest-scorer with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Zach LaVine had 28 points for the Timberwolves.

The Utah Jazz stunned the Cleveland Cavaliers 94-85 at the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City.

Rodney Hood led the Jazz to victory as he dropped 28 points, while Shelvin Mack scored 17 points and fished out 10 assists.

LeBron James scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Cavaliers’ loss.
