NBA Wrap: Spurs win eight in a row

The San Antonio Spurs won their eighth straight game after defeating the Sacramento Kings 104-94. 

Kawhi Leonard stole the spotlight in the Spurs’ win as he scored 25 points, pulled down 13 rebounds and dished out six assists.

DeMarcus Cousins was the Kings’ top-scorer with 31 points.

LeBron James scored 28 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers cruised past the Boston Celtics 120-103.

James also grabbed 11 rebounds and fell two assists shy of a triple-double as his side snapped the Celtics’ five-game winning streak.

Isaiah Thomas scored 27 points for the Celtics.

The New York Knicks ended their three-game losing streak following a 102-89 win over the Detroit Pistons.

Carmelo Anthony starred in the Knicks’ win as he dropped 24 points on 11 of 19 shooting and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Pistons center Andre Drummond finished with 21 points and 16 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Paul George made two vital free throws with three second left to lead the Indiana Pacers to a 100-99 win over the Washington Wizards.

George ended the game with 38 points on 13 of 22 shooting, six rebounds and two assists.

John Wall had 25 points and 12 assists for the Wizards.

Over at the Smoothie King Center, the Utah Jazz broke free of their five-game losing streak after beating the New Orleans Pelicans 106-94.

Derrick Favors guided the Jazz to victory with 28 points and 11 rebounds, while Gordon Hayward dropped 24 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Anthony Davis recorded a double-double in the Pelicans’ loss, which consisted of 29 points and 11 rebounds.

The Minnesota Timberwolves shot a franchise-record 68.4 per cent to crush the Brooklyn Nets 132-118.

Rookie Karl-Anthony Towns dropped 28 points on 14 of 18 shooting, while Andrew Wiggins scored 26 points on 10 of 14 shooting.

Thomas Robinson was the Nets’ best player as he finished with 18 points and 17 rebounds.

Pau Gasol and Jimmy Butler combined for 52 points as the Chicago Bulls downed the Houston Rockets 108-100.

Gasol scored 28 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and dished out six assists, while Butler finished with 24 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

James Harden dropped 36 points for the Rockets.

The Atlanta Hawks beat the Los Angeles Clippers 107-97 as Jeff Teague scored 22 points and Paul Millsap netted 20 points coupled with a season-high 18 rebounds.
