New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis is expected to return from a toe injury against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
David sprained his toe while warming up prior to the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday and was subsequently forced to watch from the sidelines where he watched his team suffer a 112-110 defeat.
Even though Davis did not practice on Monday, Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry is confident that the 22-year-old will be back in action on Wednesday.
“I’m anticipating him playing,” Gentry said. “We’ll see how he feels and obviously he’ll get more treatment on it. It will be a game-time decision.”
In the 51 games he has played this season, Davis is averaging 24.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.2 blocks and 1.3 steals per game. He also scored a career-high 59 points against the Detroit Pistons on February 21.
