Rookie Garvo Lanete is a firm believer that patience will be rewarded at the right time.
And Saturday was one of those days.
With his minutes getting doubled in a key matchup against Star, Lanete responded with a sense of urgency, firing a PBA career-high 21 points, spiked with 3 three-pointers to help NLEX register a 106-99 win in Binan, Laguna.

Before the game against the Hotshots, the many-time national player averaged a paltry 2.5 points in just 12.0 minutes of action in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
“Kahit may mga games ako na di nagagamit, di naman ako nada-down,” Lanete told FOX Sports after the game.
“I believe someday naman makikita ko yung result (of his hardwork).”
The 27-year-old Lanete said he doesn’t mind playing in a crowded guard spot that also included Kevin Alas and veteran John Wilson.
“Maganda din kasi sa practice na nagbabantayan kami and so far, maganda din naging result dahil kanina, hinahanap ako ni Asi (Taulava),” he added.
Lanete, last year’s 6th overall pick in the PBA Draft, said considering that only 8 teams will advance to the next round, it is imperative for the Road Warriors to pile up the wins as much as they can.
The win pushed NLEX to a 4-way tie for 3rd to 6th spot with GlobalPort, Blackwater and Mahindra, which pulled off a giant 102-96 upset over newly-crowned Philippine Cup champion San Miguel Beer earlier. – By Richard Dy
