San Miguel star forward Arwind Santos cited the team’s fighting heart and strong bond as factors that contributed to the Beermen’s huge Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup Finals turnaround.
With the series already tied at 3-3, Santos hopes they can finally complete their magnificent comeback in Game Seven scheduled next Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“When we were down 0-3, we just wanted to win one game. But Chris Ross, who’s been carrying us in our wins, said our fighting heart and strong bond are what’s important,” said the lanky San Miguel forward.
“Now, we just have to knock on the door for us to get in.”
San Miguel center June Mar Fajardo said the Beermen are laying everything down on the line come Game Seven.
“Game Seven will be the last game. Every player and team dream of playing in the finals, so we’re going to take advantage of the opportunity given to us,” said a determined Fajardo, who missed the first four games of the title series due to a knee injury.
“We will be ready for Game Seven.”
The 6-foot-10 star has been a big help for the Beermen in the last two games, providing the much-needed inside presence for a San Miguel quintet that is eyeing its 22nd franchise title.
No team has ever recovered from a 0-3 deficit in the PBA Finals.
But San Miguel believes it is capable of pulling off such a historic feat next week where the Mall of Asia Arena is expected to be filled to the rafters.
