San Miguel book place in finals

San Miguel Beermen stormed to a 4-2 play-off victory over Rain Or Shine Paint after a 90-82 triumph in game six.

San Miguel will now face the Alaska Aces in the final after they beat Globalport Batang Pier 4-1.

Despite fighting talk from Rain Or Shine coach, Yeng Guiao, in the build-up to the match the defending champions were simply too good on the day.

San Miguel were forced to fight back after a first half onslaught from Rain Or Shine earned them a 15 point lead. However, the deeper the game went the more the 2015 champions showed their class and with seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter they commanded a 15 point lead of their own. A late flurry from Rain Or Shine gave the score some respectability but the superior outfit ended as the victors.

San Miguel’s spot in the final could have come at a serious price though. June Mar Fajardo, the two-time Philippine Basketball Association MVP, went down with a left knee injury with seven minutes left in the third quarter on a rebound play against Jireh Ibanes. The extent of the damage is unknown at this stage.
