The Dallas Mavericks claimed an overtime win over the Kings, while the Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks were all victorious too in Tuesday's NBA action.
In the most exciting match of the night, the Mavericks had an eight-point lead going into the final quarter having had the better of the match in each of the three stanzas previously.
A late rally from the Kings forced overtime, but their resolve in the latter parts of the match proved to be just not quite enough to claim the win, eventually going down 117-116.
Deron Williams' basket late on proved decisive, with the point guard adding 25 points in total. For the Kings, DeMarcus Cousins's 35-point, 17-rebound double-double was the star of the show.
Klay Thompson scored 36 points as the Warriors claimed a 109-88 win over the Lakers, despite a 28-17 rally by LA in the final quarter. Jordan Clarkson scored 23 points, five rebounds and a pair of assists for the Lakers.
The Knicks held on to beat the 107-101 victory over the Hawks despite being outscored in the final quarter. Carmelo Anthony's double-double – which consisted of 23 points and 11 rebounds – was the most impressive feat of the night, even though Al Horford had a double-double of his own for the Hawks.
Meanwhile, the Bulls won their fifth consecutive match as Chicago beat Milwaukee 117-106.
Pau Gasol contributed 26 points, 11 rebounds and five assists to the Bulls cause, while Michael Carter-Williams added a double-double of his own in a losing cause. The Bucks point guard scored 20 points, assisted on 12 occasions and claimed three rebounds.
