Mets stroll to victory to level Subway Series

The New York Mets levelled the’Subway Series’ against the Yankees with a 7-1 Big Apple derby success.

The Yankees took a 1-0 lead on Monday night with a 6-5 win, but the Mets fought back thanks largely to Jacob deGrom pitching seven scoreless innings, containing eight strikeouts.

Didi Gregorious, Alejandro De Aza and Travis d’Arnaud all homered as the Mets enjoyed their most prolific outing in almost a month.

Salvador Perez’s two-run homer in the seventh inning gave the Kansas City Royals a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays, who the reigning World Series champions have beaten 12 times in 13 outings.

The Detroit Tigers‘ impressive run of form continued with a seventh straight win courtesy of a 11-5 routing of the Chicago White Sox where Miguel Cabrera hit a third home run in two games.

The Baltimore Orioles scored four home runs – two from Pedro Alvarez – as they beat the Texas Rangers 5-1 while a five-run haul in the eighth inning gave the Philadelphia Phillies a 13-8 win against the San Francisco Giants.

There was a 2-1 win for the Toronto Blue Jays over the Houston Astros, the Chicago Cubs beat the Miami Marlins 3-2, the Pittsburgh Pirates were 5-2 winners over the Atlanta Braves and three runs in the ninth inning gave the Cincinnati Reds a 7-5 success against the St Louis Cardinals.

The Minnesota Twins beat the Cleveland Indians 10-6, there was a 7-3 victory for the Colorado Rockies against the Los Angeles Dodgers, while the Boston Red Sox surrendered a 4-0 lead to lose 5-4 to the Seattle Mariners, who scored all five runs in the eighth inning.

The Washington Nationals followed up their 14-1 hammering of the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday with another 10-4 rout, while the Los Angeles Angels beat the Oakland Athletics 5-4 and the Milwaukee Brewers were 3-2 victors over the San Diego Padres.
