Royals run continues; Phillies fall again

Lorenzo Cain was on top form for Kansa City Royals, who extended their unbeaten run to six games with a 6-3 win against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Chicago Cubs pitcher Jon Lester shrugged off a home run on his second throw to seal his first complete game of the season in the 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Yan Gomes guided the Cleveland Indians to a 5-4 walk-off victory over the Texas Rangers and the Miami Marlins also secured a narrow 3-2 triumph at home to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Elsewhere, the Detroit Tigers won 3-0 away at the Los Angeles Angels, the Toronto Blue Jays were resounding 7-0 victors over the New York Yankees and the Atlanta Braves beat the San Francisco Giants 5-4.

The Houston Astros also won 5-4 against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Cincinnati Reds beat the Colorado Rockies 7-2 and the San Diego Padres were 14-6 winners against the Seattle Mariners.
