The Cleveland Indians continued their recent domination of the Detroit Tigers after recording a 9-4 triumph at Progressive Field on Thursday night.
The Indians used a four-run burst in the first inning and a four-hit game from Michael Brantley to ease to a sweep of a three-game series and improve their record between the teams this year to 6-0.
A 13-run fifth did the damage as the Colorado Rockies humbled the San Francisco Giants – who went into the contest two games ahead of their opponents at the top of National League West – 17-7.

Ben Zobrist smacked a two-run single in the fourth and a two-run homer in the eighth to help the Chicago Cubs to a 5-2 victory over the Washington Nationals, improving them to 21-6.
Pedro Alvarez’s sacrifice fly off New York Yankees closer Andrew Miller gave the Baltimore Orioles a 1-0 walk-off win in the 10th, while Alfredo Simon pitched into the eighth inning of the Cincinnati Reds’ 9-5 success over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Edwin Encarnacion sparkled with a home run, two doubles and six RBIs as the Toronto Blue Jays crushed the Texas Rangers 12-2, while Christian Yelich blasted a two-run homer in the eighth as the Miami Marlins sunk the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-0.
Jaime Garcia pitched the St Louis Cardinals to a 4-0 victory and series win over the Philadelphia Phillies while Robinson Cano snapped a ninth-inning tie with a three-run double to give the Seattle Mariners their fourth consecutive victory – 6-3 over the Houston Astros.
In Thursday night’s other games, the San Diego Padres defeated the New York Mets 5-3, while the Boston Red Sox beat the Chicago White Sox 7-3.
