Signing off in style

Seattle Mariners utility player Willie Bloomquist decided to call time on his career this week.

The 38-year-old was first signed by the Mariners in 1999, and went on to play for the Kansas City Royals, Cincinnati Reds, and Arizona Diamondbacks before returning to Seattle.

Not content with simply hanging up his glove, Bloomquist decided to sign off in style, with a home run…

In 14 years in the big leagues, Bloomquist only hit 18 homers, but will be remembered for the incredible versatility which saw him play every position aside from catcher and pitcher.
