Lee Chong Wei will take on Chen Long in the final of the Thaihot China Open after both players successfully negotiated their respective semi-finals on Saturday.
In what was a replay of the last two men's singles Olympic final, former world number one Chong Wei got the better of his long-time rival Lin Dan.
After losing the first game against the ever-popular Dan 21-17, Chong Wei showed tremendous resolve in the latter stages of the match, winning the second and third games 21-19.
In a match that lasted all of 91 minutes, the Malaysian ace found himself two points from defeat when trailing 17-19 in the second game, but managed to keep his nerve and force a decider.
Dan again had the advantage in the third game, leading 15-10 at one stage, but Chong Wei pulled things back to 19-all before winning the next two points and with that, move into the final.
Standing in his way of the China Open title is another local player, twice-world champion Chen.
The world number one needed 52 minutes to despatch of Korea's Son Wan Ho, winning 21-11, 21-17.
While the time spent on court suggested the Chinese ace didn't have it all his own way, the result was never in doubt after he stormed to a 15-7 lead in the first game.
