Chen, Lin power through in Malaysia

Chen beat India's Parupalli Kashyap 21-10, 21-6 comfortably with well placed shots and smashes.

Lin, a five-time world champ and twice Olympic gold medallist, won his match easily. 

He beat India's H.S. Prannoy 21-15, 21-14 and keeps his hopes alive on winning the only title he has not won.

Denmark's Jan Jorgensen, the world number two, also waltzed into the final eight thanks to a 21-7, 21-10 win over Kenichi Tago of Japan.

On the women’s side new world number one India’s Saina Nehwal continued her rampaging run with a dominating straight-game win over Chinese qualifier Xue Yao to reach the quarter-finals. 

Saina defeated Yao 21-13 21-9 in 30-minutes, to set up a clash with Chinese shuttler Sun Yu.

Commonwealth Games silver medallist Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa lost in the second round 23-21 8-21 17-21 to sixth seeded Indonesian pair of Nitya Krishinda Maheswari and Greysia Polii.
