Srikanth wins back-to-back titles

Kidambi Srikanth claimed the French Open Super Series title to back up his Super Series victory in Denmark last week and make it consecutive trophy triumphs.

With three Super Series trophies already to his name in 2017, Srikanth was full of confidence ahead of the final in Paris against Kenta Nishimoto.

The Japanese qualifier got off to a fast start though as he led 9-5 in the first game. However, things spiralled out of control quickly form there.

Out of nowhere, Srikanth upped his intensity and was soon in command at 15-11.

The Indian superstar never looked back from there as he won the first game 21-14 and then claimed the second game 21-13. All in all, the final in Paris lasted just 34 minutes.

Speaking afterwards, Srikanth admitted he was delighted to have made the most of his fine form.

“I feel good winning two titles in two weeks. I am lucky to pull off some close matches this week. I thank everyone who helped me doing this,” an elated Srikanth said.

He is now the first Indian player to win four Super Series titles in a year and only the fourth male player to have ever achieved that same feat.
